HEAT EXCHANGER
The heat exchanger is a series of tubes or ribbons on the furnace that separates the fire and hot gases from the air passing over it. The combustion process on a gas furnace produces Carbon Monoxide or CO. If there is a crack in the heat exchanger, it could be letting the dangerous CO gases into your home. Often times, the only way to know if there is a crack in your heat exchagner is through regular preventative maintenance inspections. CO gases are odorless and colorless, that is why they are often referred to as a silent killer.
