Solar Panels (Photovoltaic Systems)
Solar Panels, or Photovoltaic Systems, are solar cells that capture light energy from the sun and convert it directly into electricity.
Requirements: Photovoltaic systems must provide electricity for the residence, and must meet applicable fire and electrical code requirement. Must be your principal residence.
Tax Credit Details: 30% of the cost, up to $500 per .5 kW of power capacity

Federal Government Tax Credit up to $500
While the unprecidented tax credits offered in 2009 and 2010 have expired. There are still options available for those that weren't able to make the energy upgrades to qualify before now. New Federal Tax credits have become available thorugh the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization and Job Creation Act of 2010.
The new tax credits are capped at $500.00 for the years 2006 through the end of 2011. If you previously recieved an energy tax credit of $500.00 or more, you will not be eligilbe for any additional credits in 2011.
The tax credits available are as follows:

$150.00 for any natural gas, propane, oil furnace or boiler 95% AFUE & up

$300.00 for a split system air conditioner 16 SEER/ 13 EER & up

$300.00 for a split system heat pump 15 SEER/ 12.5 EER/ 8.5 HSPF & up

$300.00 for package air conditioner 14 SEER/ 12 EER & up

$300.00 for package heat pump 14 SEER/ 12 EER/ 8 HSPF & up

$300.00 for package gas/ electric 14 SEER/ 12 EER & up
